How My Son Started His Journey in Performance Tennis

(A heartfelt story for parents raising young athletes)

Do you know that moment when a child finds their passion?
It feels magical. But for us, the parents, it also brings a storm of questions:
➡️ Are we truly ready to support them?
➡️ Can we stand by them, not just when they win, but when it’s really hard?

For me, that moment came a few years ago, when my son, Alex, was almost 7 years old. He made a decision that would shift the course of our family life.
And it wasn’t an easy decision — but definitely one of the most important.

The Spark That Lit the Fire

Alex grew up with a tennis racket in his hand. His father is a tennis coach, so the court has always felt like our second home. At first, tennis was just play. Fun. No pressure, no expectations.
Until one day… during a Ten-Pro tournament in France.

We were there as supporters. I watched the players coached by Alex’s father receive trophies, medals, applause. His dad was even awarded Best Coach of the Tournament.
It was a joyful, inspiring moment — and somewhere in all that, something clicked in Alex.

As soon as we landed back home, he looked us in the eye and said:
👉 “I want that too. I want to play performance tennis.

What It Really Means to Be a Child Athlete

From that day, our lives changed. We started walking down a path filled with challenges — and deep lessons. This was no longer about playing tennis. It became a journey of growth and character.

✅ Early mornings with physical training before school
✅ Hundreds of repetitions on court to transform a movement into instinct
✅ Strict sleep and nutrition routines — because every detail matters
✅ Moments of frustration, self-doubt, and learning how to overcome them
✅ A real support team: coach, fitness trainer, nutritionist — people you don’t see on podiums but who build the foundation for success

Alex, now 11, lives this life daily. And I, as his mother, have come to understand something powerful:
Performance isn’t just talent. It’s discipline. It’s resilience. It’s the courage to keep going — even when it’s hard.

What Tennis Is Really Teaching My Child

🎾 Respect for rules and for others
🎾 Fair play — in wins and in losses
🎾 Emotional self-regulation
🎾 Perseverance, day after day
🎾 The power to chase your dreams, even when the path is steep
