The Point Is Over.
The Next One Is Just Beginning.

02 October 2026

In tennis, sometimes the hardest thing is not winning a point. It is forgetting the point you just lost.

From the outside, it seems simple. The ball is out, the point is over, move on.

But for a child standing there on the court, it is not always that easy.

A point lost after a long rally. An easy mistake. A double fault at the worst possible moment. A decision they don't agree with. Or simply that feeling of knowing they could have done better.

All of these things can stay in their mind when the next point begins.

And that is where another challenge starts: learning to reset.

Take a breath.

Let the previous point go.

Calm your mind.

Focus on what is happening now.

Trust the work you have done in training.

And start again.

Easy to say. Much harder to do.

Especially for a child.

I think this part of tennis is learned over time. Through training, matches, victories, defeats and, perhaps most of all, difficult moments.

Sometimes you reset immediately. Sometimes it takes a few points. And sometimes one moment stays with you until the end of the match.

But little by little, you learn not to let something you can no longer change decide what happens next.

Because the point that is over cannot be changed.

But the next point is still yours.
